AURORA CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Aurora Chamber Orchestra is Sweden’s newest international Chamber Orchestra which was launched out of Aurora Music’s multi-annual festivals in Västra Götaland in western Sweden. Along with many performances in the Aurora Chamber Orchestra’s home region, the orchestra also performs regularly in Stockholm with many performances to come in important national and international festivals and halls.
The Aurora Chamber Orchestra is a carefully selected group of 15 international musicians, visionary leaders, leading soloists and accomplished actors that stem from Aurora Music’s global network spanning over 13 years and more than 46 festivals.
The musicians of the Aurora Chamber Orchestra have a long history of intensive collaborations and support from legends in the string orchestra field like Terje Tønnesen and Gordan NIkolic who continue to bring their unique artistic leadership to the group and its performances.
The orchestras programs and performances challenge common boundaries in classical music, pushing instead for exciting collaborations with actors, soloists and composers in the search for an endless stream of creativity and the passion to capture the imaginations of both loyal fans and new audiences.
In only its first years the Aurora Chamber Orchestra has stormed into Sweden’s leading traditional and non-traditional concert halls with celebrated performances together with international musical stars like
Mischa Maisky, Viktoria Mullova, Camilla Tilling, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Truls Mørk, Isabelle van Keulen, Torleif Thedéen, Jukka- Pekka Saraste.
These productions have been characterised by the Aurora Chamber Orchestra’s creative work with actors such as Stina Eklbad, Stefan Sauk, Reine Brynolfsson, Elin Klinga and Magnus Roosmann, and Samuel Fröler and presenters such as Camilla Lundberg and Ulrika Knutson resulting in artistic creations that have been enthusiastically received by both public and media.
The Aurora Chamber Orchestra is made possible thanks to special collaborative support from the Västra Götaland region and several of its municipalities Vänersborg and Trollhättan together with many generous foundations and private donors.

The Pablo Casals Festival
A prestigious chamber music festival – Created in 1950 by the famous Catalan cellist and conductor, the Pablo Casals Festival welcomes world-renowned soloists to Prades in Pyrénées-Orientales. Every year, between the end of July and mid-August, over 10,000 music-lovers and inquiring minds come to listen to the many concerts held in Pyrénées-Orientales’ most beautiful religious buildings, like the Abbey of Saint-Michel-de-Cuxa, Serrabone Priory, Marcevol Priory or the Saint-Martin-du-Canigou.
There are also concerts in unusual venues, like the Canalettes caves at Corneilla-de-Conflent. The musicians perform great masterpieces of chamber music, from Bach to Mozart through Schubert, but also less well-known classic or contemporary repertoires.
2019, the Aurora Chamber Orchestra has been invited to inaugurate this prestigious and historic festival with concerts 25-27 July. Music by Mozart, Grieg, Bartok, Bruch, Gershwin and Elgar, among others.
