Welcome to apply for Master classes and Competition in Violin, Viola, Cello and Piano with renowned professors.  
Intensive daily exercises, and you get to meet new musical friends from all over the world.  
This is a good opportunity to get advice for your further music education career, and gain a significant international new network.  

The Master classes’ takes place during the ongoing Old Ox Chamber Music Festival where you will have free entrance to top class concerts 

Take risks, inspire audiences, meet people and have fun. 
Become an integral part of a performing arts community of which many of the world’s most important performers are also members. 

In recent years, over 4000 amazing young artists from 50 countries have participated during the now world famous Aurora Master Classes & Festivals.

: Mariestad, Sweden 
Minimum Age
: 18, under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 
Registration fee: 500 SEK 
Selection list will be published: June
Course fee: 4500 SEK
Accommodation: the course fee includes staying at private host families or in a youth hostel in Mariestad

  • 3 x 45 min solo masterclasses
  • Optional participation in the Aurora Music competition

* There will be no piano accompanists for the master classes.

Main Stage Performance Opportunities

  • Jury prize: 1 000 EUR + solo performance at the festival Grande Finale

    Expressing your inner love of music. Sharing timeless personal stories, emotions and experiences written by some of history’s greatest creative geniuses through your own personal voice and expression. The opportunity to change the lives of your listeners forever. The burning desire to move, charm, and dazzle your audience.

    If this applies to you, then apply now to the Aurora Music Competition. Embedded into the heart of the Aurora Festival experience which includes masterclasses from some of the worlds greatest pedagogues, chamber music coaching and performances and the opportunity to have fun with and listen to musicians from all over the world, is the Aurora Music Competition.

    The competition is open to all participants at the Aurora Festival Masterclasses. Each participant has the option to take part with a solo work for their instrument between 5 and 15 minutes in length. Each professor will nominate one student to take part in the public final. These students perform for a jury of international musicians and a local audience of enthusiastic Aurora fans.

    The jury will select the student that to them best represents the Aurora spirit, or might chose to divide the prize between multiple candidates, who receive or share 1000 euros. The winner(s) will then perform as part of the festival Grande Finale on the Aurora Festival main stage. The live audience will also cast their vote to choose a winner of the 500 euro audience prize.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

You need: An audio or video-recording. The only way to audition to Aurora is by adding an audio or video URL (link address) into the Aurora application form. The most common tool for this is Sound cloud or You Tube, but of course you can use any other provider as long as it provides you/us with an URL-link without any log-in needs etc.: Technical guide – Aurora Audition This has to be a solo performance (with or without accompaniment), repertoire free of choice. One piece is enough, minimum 5 minutes.

APPLICATION – STEP BY STEP:

  • Make the online application, follow APPLY HERE below. It takes about 5 min and you need to have the link to your audition ready
  • June. Aurora will send out an email with the list of selected students
  • 20 June. General detailed info about schedules and program will be sent out by e-mail
  • 24 June. Check in Mariestad
  • 2 July. 20 PM the final concert and the course ends
