World reknown violinist Ivry Gitlis, is a living legend. He is one of the greatest violinists and musicians of his generation. Born 1922 in Haifa, Israel, studied in Paris where he also lives today. Gitlis made his European Debut in 1951 in London. During the II world war he performed in the entertainment unit of the British army.
Gitlis has performed with the most prestigious orchestras in the world, and his recordings are included all the greatest violin concertos, many of which until their recent re-releases had become sought-after collectors.
In addition to being a violin virtuoso, he is also a well-known pedagogue, chamber player, and frequent contributor to films as a composer as well as an actor. In 1990 Gitlis was designated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
