Michael Lind

Michael Lind is, after a career of 40 years as a tubaist in different Scandinavian orchestras, Professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm where he has been teaching since 1980.   As a musician he has performed all over the world and has recorded numerous   LP´s and CD´s with many renowned musicians.  He has also made several solo albums which include  both classical  and jazz compositions.  In 1980 Michael Lind was visiting professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, U.S.A.  and he has given master-classes and performed   as a soloist all over the world.

Michael Lind took initiative and was the organizer of the First Swedish Tuba-Workshop in 1977, The 2nd  Swedish Tuba-Workshop 1992,  The First Scandinavian Brass Symposium in 1978 as well as the Scandinavian Brass Ensemble, Scandinavian Tuba Jazz and the Band of the Stockholm Symphonic Winds.

More than 60 composers have written works personally for him and Michael Lind has also commissioned over 40 compositions  for different brass constellations by Nordic composers.

In 1993 he was elected a member  of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

2014 Michael Lind received the lifetime achievement award  by the International Tuba-Euphonium Association for a lifetime of significant contributions to the tuba and euphonium world.
